Different anon, going off of memory, the gameplay in Len'en felt pretty good across the titles, and in comparison to Touhou, it boils down to pretty much being just an alternative series that exists in its own right. It's not as polished but it makes up for it in its more outlandish and bizarre danmaku patterns that most characters have (outside of some of the first stage bosses in BPoHC). Though at times, it kind of encourages bomb/flashbombs which seems to melt through some boss phases.
With regards to other things, character interaction and banter is pretty fun, and music isn't as consistently memorable as ZUN's but there's a decent amount of gems in there.
TL:DR It's a pretty fun alternative to Touhou, which you may as well try out if you have the time (considering it's free anyways).
