All that machine was telling him is that some randomly named packages are going to get nuked while installing steam, and since you install steam and trust your operating system you normally would think that's a required step for installing steam, like resolving dependencies, given you have no clue what those packages are? How are you going to get clues, with google? If an operating system can't work without googling that you have to do to NOT nuke your own system doing very basic things, it's a garbage operating system.
